The Progressive Genetics Herd Award (PGH) is an annual honor presented by Holstein Association USA to the 500 herds exhibiting the highest average Total Performance Index (TPI) among their females.
Award Criteria: The PGH is determined by calculating the average TPI of both young and mature females within a herd, utilizing data from the Genetic Herd Report and Youngstock Genetic Herd Report.
Purpose: This award highlights herds that demonstrate exceptional genetic merit.
History: The PGH has been granted every year since 1991.
The TPI serves as a valuable tool for dairy producers, aiding in the selection of sires to enhance herd traits such as production, health, fertility, and conformation, while also considering feed efficiency.

8 Year Honoree (In Division 2: 100-499 cows) - Awarded by Holstein Association USA

The Herd of Excellence Award was created to honor Registered Holstein breeders who have cultivated outstanding herds of cows known for their superior type and production capabilities. The award features three divisions categorized by herd size, determined by the number of cows contributing to the production averages for each herd.
